Artwork Guidelines

Creating artwork for your business cards, banners, stickers, brochures, and other materials is an exciting part of the design process. To ensure that your final prints are of the highest quality, we’ve outlined some essential guidelines for your artwork preparation.

1. Resolution: For clear and sharp prints, use a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch (DPI). Higher resolutions are even better for intricate designs and images.

2. File Formats: We accept a range of formats, including Adobe Photoshop (psd), Adobe Illustrator (ai), Corel Draw (cdr), jpeg, and pdf. Choose the format that works best for your design.

3. Color Mode: Use the CMYK color mode for accurate color reproduction in print. This is especially important for achieving consistent branding across all your materials.

4. Bleed and Safe Area: Incorporate a bleed area of at least 1/8 inch (0.125 inches) around the edges of your design. This ensures that there are no unwanted white borders after trimming. Also, maintain a safe area within your design to prevent essential elements from being cut off during printing.

5. Fonts: Embed or outline fonts in your design to avoid potential font substitution issues. This ensures that your chosen fonts appear exactly as intended.

6. Using Canva and Considering Color Transition: If you’re using design tools like Canva that primarily work in the RGB color space, please be aware of the following:

  • Design your artwork in RGB color space on Canva.
  • When selecting colors, keep in mind that RGB and CMYK color spaces have differences in color representation. Colors may appear differently when printed in CMYK.
  • It’s recommended that you check the RGB color selected on Canva under different lighting conditions and devices to ensure it matches the tone you want when printed in CMYK.
  • Understand that Canva doesn’t provide an automatic RGB to CMYK converter. Therefore, carefully monitor the colors you choose and how they might appear when printed in CMYK.

Following these guidelines will help you create designs that transition smoothly from screen to print.
